Old Harlow's famous Victorian Fair
Every September, Harlow Lions club successfully organised and ran the popular Victorian fair which was held in the centre of Old Harlow for many years.
The Fair was supported by local volunteers, businesses, other organisations and our twin Lions club from Germany. Thousands of people attended every year.
Local worthy causes benefited enormously each year from the money raised.
Traditional tearooms and stalls adorned the old town with it's bunting and flags. Local eateries supplied a variety of dishes to keep the hunger pangs at bay.
Our aim is to reintroduce this event with a view to it being on a larger scale. To achieve this we will require many volunteers to assist with both the organisation and/or the day itself. We have already had offers of support from local schools and the Church of the Assumption but we will require many more. Each group donating resources will be given a priority to raise fund for their own courses. We will also agree with these groups which local cause will be the main beneficiary of the days events.
We are open to any ideas that you, the local community, may have to make the day very special. Whilst raising money is important we think that having a very happy and enjoyable day, particularly for the families of Harlow is just as important.
If you are able to volunteer, offer any support and/or know someone or a business that may wish to offer sponsorship of all or some of the cost please contact us on:
